The Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. Ato Forson, has disclosed that the recent increment of 2.5% in the Value Added Tax (VAT) was justifiable, since the GH¢745 million expected revenue to be generated from it would be invested in major infrastructural projects, aimed at transforming the Ghanaian economy.

He stated that Ghana currently needed $1.5 billion to fix her infrastructural deficit, hence the need to increase the VAT from 12.5% to 15% to specifically support the area.
